Frequently asked questions

I'm not getting departure alerts

  • Make sure notifications are allowed: iOS Settings → Mosey → Notifications.
  • Check that your route is scheduled for today — Mosey only watches the days you select.
  • Open the app once so it can sync with our server. Notifications start arriving once a route is registered.
  • Confirm the route’s arrival time is later in the day; we don’t alert for routes already past.

My wake-up alarm didn’t ring

  • The alarm is built on iOS 26’s AlarmKit, so it needs iOS 26 or later — the version Mosey requires anyway.
  • Check that Mosey may ring alarms: in Mosey, open Settings → Notifications. Under Wake-Up Alarm it should say “Wake-up alarm on”. If it says “Turn on wake-up alarm” or “Enable wake-up alarm in Settings”, tap it and allow alarms for Mosey. Without that permission every alert is an ordinary notification, which silent mode and Focus can mute.
  • Open the route and check that Wake-up alarm is on — it is on by default when your first reminder is 15 minutes or more before the leave-by. Alarm for decides whether only the first reminder rings (First reminder) or every one (Every reminder).
  • Check that the route is Active and scheduled for that day. When an alarm is set, its time shows on the route card.
  • A skipped morning shows “Alarm skipped” on the route card. Swipe left on the card and tap Un-skip to undo it.
  • If the route card says “No moving alarm until traffic data is available”, Mosey has never measured a drive time for that route and sets no alarm. Once it has measured one, it uses the last measured drive time whenever live traffic isn’t available.
  • Open Mosey now and then: each time, it sets the alarm for your next departure. Otherwise the alarm is set that morning, by background updates from our server, which iOS can delay.
  • To check the sound, tap Test Alarm on the route (or Hear your alarm right after setting up your first route). It rings 10 seconds later on a separate test alarm, so your real alarm stays where it is.

The Live Activity countdown doesn’t appear

  • Check that Live Activities are allowed for Mosey: iOS Settings → Apps → Mosey → Live Activities.
  • It only appears for a route that is active and scheduled for today. Our server starts it with the morning’s first traffic check — about half an hour before your first reminder, so an hour before the leave-by with the default reminders. Opening Mosey within two hours of the leave-by starts it straight away.
  • Mosey needs a drive time for the route: where it says “Live traffic isn’t available for this route”, there is no countdown.
  • Open Mosey once after installing it, so it can register your iPhone for Live Activity updates.
  • It ends by itself after you leave: 15 minutes after the leave-by it reads “Departed”, and it closes soon after.

How accurate are the ETAs?

Mosey uses Apple Maps and OpenWeatherMap for traffic and weather data. These are estimates — we adjust for typical weather patterns but cannot predict accidents, road closures, or sudden storms. Always allow extra buffer time for important arrivals.

How do I delete my data?

Open Mosey → Settings → Reset All Data. This wipes your routes, history, and device registration from both your phone and our server. There is no recovery — make sure you actually want to do this.

Is iCloud sync optional?

Yes. By default it’s on, but you can turn it off in Settings → iCloud Sync. Toggling requires an app restart for the change to take effect.

Can I change the language?

Yes, in Mosey’s Settings. Under Language, pick English, Nederlands, Deutsch, Français or Español — or System, the default, to follow your iPhone — then reopen Mosey to see it in the new language. Departure alerts, summaries and the widget follow your choice.

Why does Mosey ask for my location?

Only to auto-fill your starting point when you create a new route. Mosey never tracks your location in the background, and never sends GPS coordinates anywhere except when you explicitly save a route.

Do I have to pay?

No. All features are free. Optional support purchases help fund development if you find Mosey useful — they’re voluntary and unlock no extra features.

The app is suggesting times that are too early or too late

You can adjust the buffer in each route’s settings — that’s the cushion Mosey adds on top of the calculated ETA. You can also turn weather adjustments off per route, or change the alert timing (default is 30 / 10 / 2 minutes before leave-by).
