Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

  • Open Amp and continue with your Tesla account. You sign in on Tesla’s own page; Amp never sees your password.
  • Approve the permissions Amp asks for (vehicle information, location, commands and charging).
  • If you own the car, add Amp’s virtual key when Amp asks. The Tesla app opens to approve it.
  • Amp then connects to your car automatically. The first data arrives the next time the car is awake.

How does the subscription work?

  • Live status and controls, alerts, automations, widgets and the charging Live Activity need Amp Pro, a monthly or yearly subscription. New subscribers get a 14-day free trial.
  • Amp asks you to subscribe after you sign in, once it knows your car is supported and before you add the virtual key. You can also subscribe in Amp → Settings → Subscription.
  • One subscription covers everyone who uses the car in Amp: if the owner subscribes, their drivers don’t need to.
  • Payment goes through Apple and renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Prices are shown in the app and may vary by country.
  • Without a subscription your history stays viewable, but live data and controls stop. The demo car (guest mode) is always free.

How do I cancel?

In iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Amp, or from Amp → Settings → Manage Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge; Amp Pro keeps working until then. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Changed phones or reinstalled Amp? Tap Restore Purchases in Settings → Subscription.

I'm a driver, not the owner. What do I do?

Tesla only lets the car’s owner add a virtual key and turn on data streaming. In Amp, tap Send link to owner: the owner opens it in any browser, signs in with their Tesla account and approves the key in the Tesla app. After that, everyone who has access to the car can use Amp with it.

Why is my data a few minutes old?

Your car sends data while it’s awake. When it sleeps, Amp shows the last known state, which saves the car’s battery. It updates again as soon as the car wakes, for example when you open the Tesla app, drive or start charging.

A command says the car is asleep

Amp doesn’t wake the car on its own. When you send a command to a sleeping car, Amp asks first. Waking takes up to a minute, and then the command is sent.

I'm not getting notifications

  • Allow notifications: iOS Settings → Amp → Notifications.
  • Check which alerts are on in Amp → Settings → Notifications.
  • Alerts need live data, so they only work once your car is connected (see above).

Can I export my trip log for taxes?

Yes. Go to Drives → Trip Log, tag drives as business or private (or let Trip Log Rules do it), pick a month and export a CSV and a PDF; lock the month once it’s final. Amp isn’t an officially approved logbook: check the log, and what your tax authority requires, before you submit it anywhere.

How do I delete my account and data?

Amp → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes your account and Tesla connection right away, along with the history of cars no one else uses in Amp. You can also revoke Amp in your Tesla account under third-party apps. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an Amp Pro subscription: cancel it separately in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions (see above). See the privacy policy for details.

Can I change the language?

Yes, in Amp → Settings → Language: pick English, Nederlands, Deutsch, Français, Español or Norsk bokmål — or System, to follow your iPhone — then reopen Amp. Notifications switch to the new language too.

Which countries and cars does Amp support?

Amp works with Tesla accounts in every region Tesla’s Fleet API serves: North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. Mainland China uses a separate Tesla platform and isn’t supported. Amp works with Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck and 2021-or-newer Model S and X. Older Model S and X don’t support the live data and signed commands Amp relies on.

Who makes Amp?

TIT, an independent company in the Netherlands. Amp uses Tesla’s official Fleet API but isn’t made, endorsed or supported by Tesla, Inc.
