An automatic trip log for your Tesla
Keeping a mileage log by hand is the kind of chore that's always a week behind. Amp writes it for you: every drive your car makes is logged on its own, with where it started and ended, when, the odometer readings and the distance. You only decide which drives were for business — or let rules decide.
Every drive, logged without you
While the car is awake it streams its status to Amp. When you put it in drive, Amp opens a trip; when you park, it closes it — with the start and end location, start and end time, odometer readings, distance, energy used and efficiency. You don't start or stop anything in the app.
Each drive shows on a map with its route, so a forgotten trip is easy to recognise weeks later.
Business or private, by hand or by rule
Tag a drive business or private and add a short note — the client you visited, the project, the reason for the trip. Untagged drives stay visible so nothing slips through, and one tap marks all of a month's untagged drives as private.
Or let Amp tag them: save places such as your office or a client as business and your home as private, set your business hours and a default, and each new drive is tagged the moment it ends. A business place at either end makes a drive business, with the place as its note. You can always change a tag.
Missing trips, changes and locked months
If the odometer moved between two drives without a recorded trip — because the car was offline, say — Amp points out the gap, and you add the trip by hand with its times, odometer readings and addresses.
Every change to a drive's purpose or note is kept in its history. When a month is done, lock it: a locked month can't be changed until you unlock it, and its export says when it was locked.
Totals, limits and shared cars
The trip log screen adds up business and private distance per month and for the year so far. Set a yearly limit for private kilometres and Amp warns you at 80% and at 100%.
In a shared car, assign each drive to whoever drove it and split the month's charging cost by distance.
Export a monthly mileage log
Export any month as a CSV for your spreadsheet or accounting software, and as a PDF you can hand to your bookkeeper or employer. Each row has the date, start and end time, the from and to addresses, purpose, note, odometer readings and distance, with business and private totals. The PDF marks trips you added by hand and ends with the month's change log.
Addresses are looked up on your iPhone, not on our server. In Dutch, Amp exports a rittenregistratie with Dutch column names.
What the trip log is — and isn't
Amp's trip log is a record of your drives, not an officially approved logbook. Tax authorities set their own rules for business mileage — some require a tamper-proof electronic logbook. Check with your tax adviser whether Amp's export is enough for your situation.
Which cars it works with
Amp is made by TIT and works with Tesla Model 3, Model Y and Tesla Cybertruck, and with Model S and Model X built in 2021 or later. It is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed or supported by Tesla, Inc.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to start a trip in the app?
No. Amp logs drives from the car's own data while it's driving. Opening the app is only needed to tag drives or export the log — and with trip rules, not even for tagging.
Which details does each logged drive have?
Date, start and end time, start and end address, odometer readings at the start and end, distance, duration, energy used, efficiency, average and top speed, and your purpose and note.
What if a drive wasn't recorded?
Amp shows the odometer gap as a missing trip. Add it by hand with its times, odometer readings and addresses; hand-added trips are marked as such in the export.
Is Amp's trip log accepted by the tax authorities?
Amp is not an officially approved or certified logbook, and the export can be edited. Whether it meets the rules depends on your country and situation — ask your tax adviser.
Can I fix a drive I tagged wrong?
Yes, as long as its month isn't locked. Change the purpose or note any time; the change is kept in the drive's history, and the monthly totals and the next export follow.
