Beep

All your loyalty cards on your iPhone

Updated · TIT

A wallet full of plastic, a key ring of mini cards, and the one you need is still at home. Beep keeps every loyalty, store and membership card on your iPhone: add each card with one photo, and at the checkout you open it and the barcode is right there. No account, no ads, and nothing about you leaves the phone.

Download on the App Store

Add a card with one photo

Tap the plus button, point the camera at the plastic card and press the shutter; a yellow outline marks the barcode once it's in view. From that one photo Beep reads the number and, from the name printed on the card, works out which store it belongs to — without asking a server, because the store list and every logo are built into the app. It then shows you the card as it will be saved, to check before you tap Save, and the photo is kept as the card's first photo.

A worn card, or one you only have the number of, goes in by hand: tap Enter number, type it, pick the store and Beep draws the barcode itself. It supports EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, Code 39, ITF, Code 128, QR, PDF417 and Aztec, which covers practically every loyalty card issued in Europe.

Moving over from another app? Take a screenshot of each card there, then tap Choose photo in Beep and pick up to 30 at once. Beep reads them one after another and says up front if any had no barcode it could read.

800+ stores, logos included

More than 800 stores come built in, with their logo, so your wall of cards looks like the cards in your pocket. With your iPhone set to the Netherlands the Dutch ones come first — Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Kruidvat, Etos, HEMA, Action, Douglas, Air Miles, Lidl Plus and MediaMarkt among them — and in Germany, France and Spain the local stores lead instead.

A store that isn't in the list is added by name with a colour of your choice, and works exactly like a built-in one. Settings has a form to suggest a store for a future update; it asks for the shop, not for your cards. All brands and logos belong to their respective owners; Beep is not affiliated with any of these stores.

At the checkout

Open a card and the barcode comes up full width, drawn at a whole number of pixels per bar so a till scanner reads it the first time. The screen stays awake until you leave the card, so it doesn't go dark while you wait in the queue, and the number is printed underneath in case the cashier types it in.

To get there fast: search by name, filter loyalty cards from gift cards, and sort by most used, name or date added — or drag the cards into your own order. Light or dark, two or three columns.

Or go straight to the card: a Home Screen widget shows one card or your first six or twelve, a Lock Screen widget opens one card, and on iOS 18 so does a control in Control Centre. Ask Siri to “Open [card] in Beep”, or, on iOS 18, type the card's name in Spotlight.

Not only loyalty cards

Membership cards go in the same way — a gym, a library, a museum pass — and for the ones that run out you can set an expiry date: Beep reminds you 30 days and 7 days before it, and the date on the card's details turns orange in the last month. Gift cards keep their balance: enter what the card was worth and log what you spend, and the Gift card tab adds up what's left on all of them.

Any card can be added to Apple Wallet in one tap, logo and balance included, so it shows up on the Lock Screen with your other passes.

No account, works offline

There is nothing to sign up for. Beep has no server that holds your cards and no way to read them: they live on your iPhone and, if you're signed in to iCloud, sync through your own iCloud private database to your other devices. No tracking, no analytics, no ads.

The app is free, with no in-app purchases or subscription. It runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later, in English, Dutch, German, French and Spanish.

Frequently asked questions

Does Beep know which store a card belongs to?

Usually, yes. It reads the name printed on the card and matches it against the 800+ stores built into the app. It only accepts a match it's sure of; otherwise you pick the store yourself, or add it by name.

Can I add a card that has no barcode, only a number?

Yes. Type the number, pick the store and Beep draws a barcode for it. If the store normally prints a different barcode type, change it when you add the card.

Do my cards sync to my other iPhone?

Yes, if both are signed in to the same iCloud account. Sync runs through your own iCloud private database; Beep has no server of its own.

Can I open a card from the Home Screen or with Siri?

Yes. Beep has Home Screen widgets for one card or your first six or twelve, Lock Screen widgets and, on iOS 18, a Control Centre control. Siri opens a card when you say “Open [card] in Beep”, and on iOS 18 Spotlight finds your cards by name.

Is Beep free?

Yes. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription and no advertising.
